Hit and Run.
A hit and run driver,
she just picked up a stray.
A lonely prisoner
on an endless highway.
She takes me by the hand,
my body at her side.
Walks me to the door
and a cross-town taxi ride.
City lights and neon,
time caught in between.
Lost inside my thoughts
as she plays out a tattered scene.
She is under my skin.
Close to the bone.
So soft on my lips,
but I am still alone.
